Are you a dancer? The Dancers of Minnesota portrait experience is perfect for friends to capture some casual memories together while, at the same time, preserving the memories of the super-human skills you have developed as part of your dancing. Seriously, the average dancer can perform skills the rest of us can't dream of doing. What better way to remember this time in your life than to spend a couple hours with your best friends dancing in front of the camera. You won't regret it.

Senior year is a time when you make all of your last high school memories before graduation and enter your new life. As time goes by, life will get hectic and crazy and these memories will start to fade. Planning a BFF session will help preserve these memories forever and help create some new ones during this fun photo shoot! Below are some tips to help you come up with a plan for your session:

Location

Choose a location that means something to you and your bestie. Most Dancers of Minnesota portrait sessions happen at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, but if you have a place that is special to you we can try to shoot there.

Props

Now it’s time to think about props. Dance costumes are great, but do you have any props? We love incorporating special shoes and other props (including costumes) into our dance portraits. Please be aware that if we are at a place like the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum there might be a dress code and not all studio costumes may be appropriate, but let us know what you want to do for your session and we will do what we can to make it work.

Are you on the school spirit squad or are you college bound? School spirit and clothing are always welcome.

Clothing

Bring your costumes, but please be aware that Highly rhinestoned or extra feathery costumes may not photograph well (a.k.a. clash) in the outdoor environmnets. When it comes to "regular" clothing, you don’t want to be completely matchy-matchy (unless you are going to the twin BFF look). However, you don’t want to clash either. Choose a color palette that looks good on both of you and coordinate your outfits with colors from that scheme. Don’t forget to bring matching shoes and accessories.

Choreography

Make sure you plan what your top 5-10 skills (in order) are that you want to capture in this session. Browse Pinterest and Instagram and copy the URL's of photos you want recreate and send us the list and order a week or so before your session.

We can't wait to capture some memories with you and your friends! Dance portraits can be taken outdoors or in a studio, which means we can schedule the Dancers of Minnesota portrait sessions year round even in Minnesota.
